Christopher Leal Arvesen, 54, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, passed away on October 21, 2023. Chris was born on March 11, 1969, to loving parents James and Sandra (Leal) Arvesen in West Lafayette, Indiana. 

Chris loved music and playing the guitar. He left a collection of vinyl albums to his brother, Brandon, that will be well loved. Chris was the cherished brother of Susan, Sarah, Brandon, Carin, and Ricki. Treasured uncle of Jordyn, Tyler, Ryan, Kyle, Cammy, Austin, Maddie, and River. Adored nephew to John and Sallie Arvesen, Gordon and Susan Horne, and cousins Kristin, Eric, Margo, and Lindsay. Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Betty (Cox) Arvesen and George and Alice (Cowell) Leal; his stepmother, Linda Albin; and stepfather, Charles King. 

Celebration of life and Shiva will be held at the Deerfield Marriott Suites, 2 Parkway North, Deerfield, IL, on November 24, 2023, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Center for Racial and Disability Justice in Chris' memory. The Northwestern Law Center for Racial and Disability Justice (CRDJ) is a center focusing on pressing issues at the intersection of racial and disability justice. The Center’s overarching mission is to promote the human and civil rights of all people with disabilities. CRDJ recognizes the complex needs of people with disabilities, while also working to simultaneously dismantle structural and societal barriers.
