Clayton Ross Claridge

Clayton Ross Claridge, 81, passed away on October 24, 2023. He was born on June 28, 1942, to Chester and Irene (Freudenberger) Claridge. Clayton is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Claridge, and daughter, Anita Marie Claridge.

Clayton married Sharon Rogers on December 1, 1961. He rarely met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was a lifelong member of the Spurgeon Methodist Church and a graduate of Spurgeon High School, class of 1960. He was a proud member of the UMWA and an active supporter of the Labor Day Association.

Clayton is survived by his wife of 61 years, Sharon; daughter, Samantha (Russ) Sheffler; son, Cliff (Melissa) Claridge; grandchildren, Audrey (Cody) Frederick, Allison (Jacob) Couture and Quade Claridge; great-grandsons, Asher, Gardner, and Graham Frederick; brothers, Wilbur Claridge, Robert Claridge, Jerry Claridge; sisters, Naomi Hadlock, Barbara McCormick and Helen Skinner, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral Service 11 a.m. (EST) Monday, October 30, 2023, at Spurgeon Methodist Church, 11505 IN-61, Spurgeon, IN 47584. Visitation from 2 – 6 p.m. (EST) Sunday, October 29, 2023, and 1 hour before service on Monday all at the Church. Interment in Spurgeon Cemetery in Spurgeon.
