Ernestine Rollins Bostic Obituary

Ernestine Rollins Bostic passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10th, 2018. Affectionally known by her family, friends, grandchildren, and great grandchildren as “Teenie”, she was just 2 weeks from her 101st Birthday. Teenie was born on February 26th, 1917 in Winterville, North Carolina, the daughter of Jesse L. Rollins and Susie T. Rollins. She was the third of eight siblings. She attended East Carolina University, then East Carolina Teachers College (ECTC). During World War II, she worked in the Payroll Office of the naval shipyards in Wilmington, NC. After the War, she married Bythal Hill Bostic Sr., (B.H.) and moved to Jacksonville, N.C. to start their family. While in Jacksonville, she taught kindergarten. She and BH later moved their family to Goldsboro, N.C. where she lived for more than 50 years. Teenie loved Goldsboro and was active in bowling, bridge clubs, Woman’s Club, and with her friends in the Gadabouts Group. Teenie loved the Lord and all the members of her churches. She was a longtime member and active inThe First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Goldsboro. She was the sole surviving Charter memberof The Winterville Christian Church.  While in Goldsboro, she suffered the sudden death of her husband. She returned to work and enjoyed working for H. D. Tyndall, MD for 14 years.  Teenie is survived by her son, Jack Rollins Bostic and his wife, Sharon Smith Bostic. She was blessed by two grandchildren: Jenny Bostic Brown (Jason), and William Rollins Bostic (Emily). She had four great grandchildren: Anna Claire Brown, Ellie Brown, Katherine Bostic, and Jack Bostic. She is also survived by her siblings, Sara O’Connor and Bryan Rollins (Helen), nieces Barbara Dark (Marshal), Nancy Fogel, Janice Yanda (Chuck), Elva Wilson, Carol Coville (Tracy), Maureen Saringer (Bobby), and nephews, Dalton Worthington (Arlene), Scott Rollins (Heather), Lee O’Connor, and Billy Rollins (Myra). Teenie was preceded in death by her husband, Bythal Hill Bostic Sr. (B.H.) and her son, Bythal Hill Bostic Jr (B.H.).  Family and Friends will praise God for Teenie’s 100 years and celebrate her eternal life at 11:00AM on Wednesday, February 14th at the First Christian Church, 1609 Ash Street, Goldsboro, NC 27530. The family will visit with friends prior to the service at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, Please consider a memorial in her memory to The First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Goldsboro, and Transitions Life Care, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607.
