Agnes Elizabeth Scheible Obituary

Agnes Elizabeth Scheible 95, of Emmett, died Saturday, February 3, 2018 at McLaren Macomb Hospital, Mt. Clemens. She was born November 11, 1922 in Columbus Twp. the daughter of the late William and Anna (Gavin) Shanahan. Her marriage to Gerald “Mike” Scheible was June 7, 1947 in Port Huron. Mike died in 2005. Agnes was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett, and had been the organist for many years. She started playing the organ for Masses at Holy Rosary Church, Smiths Creek, in 1935 an continued to play for weddings, funerals and Sunday Mass into the 2000’s. She was a member of the Altar Society and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidery, making afghans, cooking and baking. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Nancy of Riley, Bill and Lynne of Big Rapids and Rick and Kimberly of Fort Gratiot; seven grandchildren, Christine (Jim) Stead, Kathleen Scheible (Teri Downing), Gerald (Jennifer) Scheible, Nick (Melissa) Scheible, Lindsey (Gary) Chesebro, Megan (Robert) Riehl and Zack (Ashley) Scheible, 12 great-grandchildren, Chuck, Cian, Aiden, Conleth, Calvin, Rowan, Grady, Chase, Brynn, Brett, Lucas and Hudson and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by sisters, Maryellen Roehl, Josephine Collins, Kay Brugler and Rosemary Emerick; several brothers and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Her family honors the memory of Agnes and invites you to visit and share Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Yale, with rosary service at 6:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Emmett, with 9:30 a.m. visiting. Fr. Tom Kuehnemund, pastor, and Fr. Joe Gagnon will co-officiate. Burial will be in Kenockee Cemetery of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-Kenockee Cemetery, Kenockee Township. Pallbearers will be Zack Scheible, Jerry Scheible, Jim Stead, Bob Riehl, Gary Chesebro, Aiden Stead, Conleth Stead and Nick Scheible.
