Funeral services for Joy Loretta Cockrell, 79, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at North Monroe Baptist Church with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mrs. Joy was born July 24, 1938, in Bastrop, LA and passed away February 4, 2018, in Monroe, LA. Joy was a charter member of North Monroe Baptist Church. She was a choir member and a hostess for the church several years. She also sang in a trio for 25 years. Mrs. Joy was preceded in death by her daughter, Terri Brown. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Glenn Cockrell; sons, Tommy Cockrell, and Ronnie Cockrell and wife Toni; granddaughters, Hailey Frey and Aubry Cockrell; brothers, Charles Goodnight and wife Trudy, and Bill Goodnight and wife Sue; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Joy was a faithful wife, great mother and grandmother, and friend to many. She will be dearly missed. Pallbearers will be Tim Edwards, Joe Casiday, Donald Lovelady, Terry Huckabee, Dale Wyant, and Danny Whitaker. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Smith and Richard Paulus. Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA. I’m so sorry for your loss. What a beautiful woman! I never knew her, but she certainly raised some great children (and plumbers) and I am sure she will be sorely missed.
