Margaret Mary Scherzer, age 95, died February 3, 2018 at Pana Community Hospital. She was born January 4, 1923 to Joseph and Susan Rochkes. She attended Sacred Heart grade school and Pana Township High School. She married Florian Scherzer in Pullman, Washington in 1944. Margaret was employed at First National Bank, Siegert Clinic, Roseland Theatre, and Christian County Housing until her retirement in 1985. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law Scott Goodrich, grandson Andrew Goodrich, and siblings Fr. Hugh, Joseph, Alex, James, Susan, Leone and nephew Francis Rochkes. She is survived by her four daughters, Susan (Tom) Stewart, Paula Jenkins, Margie Goodrich, and Maria (Chuck) Groves. Grandchildren Eric (Julie) Stewart, David (Ranae) Stewart, Susan (John) Stone, Sarah (Tyler) Schmidt, Sammi (Justin) Fox, Katie (Mike) Knudsen, Anne Timm, Kelly (Andrew) DiAllesando, Joseph (Robyn) Rolens, and Emily (Cuyler) Coleman. Great Grandchildren – Luke and Maddie Stewart, Brady and Ben Stewart, Tayler and Rylan Schmidt, Andrew and Leah Knudsen, Madisyn Goodrich, Makenzie Timm, Leo and Essie Rolens, Cuylie, Brooke, and Dakota Coleman, and 2 granddaughters on the way. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Pana at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Memorials in Margaret’s honor may be made to Sacred Heart School, 3 E. Fourth St., P.O. Box 440, Pana, IL 62557 and will be accepted by the McCracken-Dean Funeral Home which is assisting her family with arrangements.
