Harold "Rex" Watson

Harold “Rex” Watson, age 76, of Sevierville passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018 at UT Medical Center. A carpenter by trade, Mr. Watson retired from Rentenbach Engineering Company as Superintendent in 2001. He was an avid outdoorsman, loved camping, fishing, hunting, and gardening. Rex was a Nascar enthusiast stemming from his own stock car racing career in which he received numerous recognitions including the 1968 track record at Smoky Mountain Raceway. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Sarah Ruth Watson; grandson, Jason Shults; parents, Carl and Minnie Watson; siblings, Carl E. Watson Jr., Jenella Justus, Reba Spence, and James Watson; parents-in-law, Carlos and Vola Huskey; and brother-in-law, Carl Spence. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Calvin Arp, Rexene and Ricky Shults, Liane and Steve Teaster; grandchildren, Tina Shults, Robbie (Cheri) Shults, Ashley (Logan) Carr, Wesley Teaster, Whitney (Johnathan) Galyon, Shaina Arp, and Neil Arp; great-grandchildren, J.D. Shults, Delaney Shults, Dalton Shults, Austin Shults, Jaxson Carr, Shelby Carr, Adilyn Teaster, and Emory Galyon; brother, Max Watson; sisters-in-law, Wanda Watson, Jeanette Owenby, and Eugenia Watson; brother-in-law, Onas Justus; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family; caregivers, Donna Wilson, Marlene Hurst, Billy Burkett, and his fur baby, Cinderella. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm Wednesday, February 7th with the service to follow at 7pm in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Ray Ball will be officiating. Family and friends will leave at 1:30pm Thursday from Atchley Funeral Home to Caton’s Chapel Cemetery for the graveside service and interment. Serving as Pallbearers are Neil Arp, Robbie Shults, Wesley Teaster, Johnathan Galyon, Logan Carr, J.D. Shults, and Dalton Shults. Online condolences may be made at www.atchlefuneralhome.com
