Albert E. "Ole Pal Al" Wukelich Obituary

Albert E. “Ole Pal Al” Wukelich, age 93, of Belle Valley, Ohio, died Sunday, February 4, 2018, at Genesis Hospice – Morrison House. He was born September 7, 1924, in Neffs, son of the late John and Anna Ballou Wukelich. He was a 1942 graduate of Belle Valley High School, and he was a World War II Army veteran, having served in the European Theater. In 1986, Al retired as a die grinder for the former Glacier Vandervell plant in Caldwell. He was a member of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Belle Valley, the Belle Valley American Legion Post #641, and the United Steel Workers Union Local #4836 in Caldwell. Al was a watchmaker, and he operated shops in both Belle Valley and Caldwell at different times. He also repaired watches for local jewelry stores. He loved to fix everybody’s everything and considered it a challenge if a person said something couldn’t be fixed. He helped everyone and never took a payment. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Martha May Barlock Wukelich, whom he married June 16, 1947, and who died September 29, 2000; three infant daughters; two sisters, Helen Gishka Randolph and Rita Strock; and two brothers, John Wukelich, Jr., and an infant brother. Surviving are two sons, Albert Lee (Roberta) Wukelich of Belle Valley and Michael B. (Missy) Wukelich of Caldwell; one sister, Rose Gilger of Warren; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call Tuesday, February 6, 2018, from 4-8PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will conclude visitation at 8PM. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Wednesday, February 7th at 10AM at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Wayne Morris as celebrant. A veteran’s graveside service will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery conducted by the Noble County Veterans Service Organizations.
