Benny Paul Heald Obituary

BENNY PAUL HEALD (75) of Bellevue, Nebraska passed away on October 8, 2023.  Benny was born to Paul and Blanche Heald on October 10, 1947.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Leslie (ne Taylor), his daughter Stacey (Daniel) White, and grandson Hunter Heald. He was preceded in death by his son Jason (1976-2021).

Benny received two associate degrees in Supervision and Work Center Management in 1972, and in 1995 received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, Upper Iowa University. He retired from the US Air Force with 30 years of active duty in 1996, achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. In this time, he served two tours in Vietnam, one including 97 helicopter missions, the other with the 101st Airborne Division including 35 tanker missions. Benny trained many boom operators, at one point managed over 1100 individuals.

Upon retirement, Benny held several civilian management positions with the Aureus Group and as a consultant to DynCorp.

Benny had several lifelong hobbies, including hunting, fishing, and caring for his dogs.  He was active in the local VFW, Masons, Shriners, and Honorary Gunner/Security Policeman.


Funeral Service Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at 1:00PM with Visitation beginning 1 hour prior at John A. Gentleman Mortuaries Bellevue Chapel. Interment with military honors at Omaha National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Wounded Warriors Project.
