Eleanor E. Hardt, 101, of South Beloit, IL died at 10:10 a.m., Friday, January 26, 2018 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a brief illness. Born April 2, 1916 in Braceville, IL, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James L. and Hazel D. (Spires) Smith. Married Chris Hardt in Boone County on September 27, 1941. Eleanor was a member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church and was active in various committees and events. She was the Turkey Dinner Coordinator as well as being a member of the former Stateline Country Club. She was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on their dairy farm as well as being a seamstress for many years. Survivors include son James (Tina) Hardt; daughter Judy (Pete) Rossi; grandchildren Diane (Brian) Vandenheuvel, Linda (Dave) Oldenburg and Karen (Jim) Allen; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Lois Bonsall, Margaret Johnson, Lucille Nagel, James Smith, Della Schutt, Ray Smith, Annabell Johnson, Ruelle Smith, Marilyn Cox, Edgar Smith and Shirley Johnson. Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 5, 2018 in Roscoe United Methodist Church, 10816 Main St, Roscoe, IL with Pastor Alicia Butler, Roscoe United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Monday. Burial will be in Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere, IL. McCorkle Funeral Home – Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd, IL assisted the family. A memorial will be established.
