Ralph Lee Johnson, age 86, died peacefully in his sleep on 9/06/2023 in La Pine Oregon. Ralph was born in Summers, AR on 4/01/1937 to John Delmer Johnson and Beulah Agnes Summers Johnson. His siblings soon followed, Kenneth (d. 2021) and Loveta Johnson Crabb. The family moved to the W. Coast when he was young, and settled in Junction City, OR when he was in Jr. High. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1955. Ralph was athletic, and played varsity football, basketball, and track. He continued to play community ball until he was in his 30's. He was planning on being an English teacher, and attended college in Monmouth for a year. He worked at the local mill with his father for a while; began managing grocery stores, and then joined the Teamsters and drove semi for the remainder of his career before retiring. He worked for 7-UP, Arden Farms, and Darigold. Ralph married Mary Jolene "Jody" Traylor in 1957. They had four children, Kathy, Mitch, Angie, and Julie. They have 8 grandchildren from their marriage, 3 step-grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The family lived in the Eugene/Springfield area. Ralph married Cara Jill Acklen in 1980. Jill had two children, Britt and Jeff. Britt took care of Ralph and Jill in their later years in Laughlin, until Jill died in 2021 and Ralph moved back to Oregon. Jeff died young, leaving his wife Sandy (who was like a daughter to Ralph) with two boys, and eventually three great-grandchildren. Ralph and Jill lived in Eugene, Bullhead City, La Pine, and Laughlin. Ralph had a great sense of humor, and a warmness that drew people to him. He loved to read, cook, camp, fish, and play cards. He loved being with his family and friends, and his beloved little dog, Tommy. Ralph will be very missed by all. There will be two services held in remembrance of Ralph. The first one will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Prairie House Assisted Living (51485 Morson St., La Pine, OR 97739) at 2:00 p.m. The second service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2023, in Junction City at Christ Center Church (530 W. 7th, Junction City, OR 97448) at 2:00 p.m. There will be a burial service at West Lawn Cemetery at 94335 Territorial Hwy, Junction City, OR 97448, following the service.
