Obituary
Willis Perry "Buzz" Billman, 84, of Union City, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 18, 2023 at home surrounded by his family under hospice care.
A funeral will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 5:00 P.M. at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI 49094. Pastor Marty Burdick will officiate. Cremation will follow and Buzz will be privately interred at Riverside Cemetery in Union City at a later date. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service on Friday, beginning at 3:00 P.M., also at the Lighthouse.
Buzz was born September 13, 1939 in Union Township to Wilber Perry and Marcia Emma (Mack) Billman. He continued to live in Union City his entire life. Buzz belonged to FFA at Union City High School, from where he graduated in 1957. On October 10, 1966, he married the former Karen Homan in Sherwood. Buzz began his career working at Star Mobile Home in Union City. He then worked for 33 years as a cabinet maker at American Woodcraft in Union City, until the business closed. Buzz finished his career at Holbrook Patterson in Coldwater, retiring in the late 1980s. He also farmed on Burlington Road and Olds Road, growing crops and milking cows.
Outside of work, Buzz enjoyed hunting, mushrooming, searching for arrowheads and gardening. He would talk to anyone and especially liked visiting with his neighbors. Buzz was a kind and caring man whose family was his pride and joy, but he turned into quite a jokester in his later years. He was passionate about his beliefs and God. Over the years, he attended the Girard United Methodist Church and the Union City Wesleyan Church.
Left to carry on Buzz’s traditions of hard work and family togetherness are his wife of 56 years, Karen; his children, James (Autumn) Billman of Coldwater, Perry (Tyann) Billman of Angola, IN, Tracy (Dennis VanWormer) Conley of Union City and Elle (Ron) Warsop of Tekonsha; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Don Heise.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amy Billman; and sisters, Jessie Stevens and Wilma Heise.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Union City Wesleyan Church, 202 Saint Joseph Street, Union City, MI 49094.
