Ruthlyn "Sissy" Matthew, age 81, died on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Morris View Nursing Home in Morris Twp., NJ<br /><br />Born in St. Johns, Antigua to the late Joseph and Mary Wetherill. She was born and raised in St. Johns, Antigua, moved to St. Croix where she lived 12 years there before moving to Bronx, NY then settling in Rockaway Twp, NJ.<br /><br />Ruthlyn had been employed as a home health aide for Interim HealthCare White Plains NY prior to retirement.<br /><br />She enjoyed sewing, cooking, especially making her famous patties and spending time with family. <br /><br />She is survived by three children: Curtis Devon Matthew (Grace), Evon Carl Matthew (Kelly), and Carol-Anne Denise Matthew; three grandchildren: Nichelle Matthew, Jessica Matthew, and Marques Matthew; and six siblings: Jocelyn Benjamin, Elaine Sheridan, Helen Anthony, John Wetherill, Elvis Wetherill, and Charles Wetherill. <br /><br />Visitation will be on Saturday September 23 from 2:00-4:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 4:30 PM at Whitham-Kanapaux Funeral Home, 20 Keller Ave, Rockaway NJ.<br /><br />Condolences may be sent to: RockawayFuneral.com <br /><br />Memorial contributions may be directed to The Matthew FamilyObituary
