Sandi passed away on September 17th after bravely battling a series of health issues. She was 75 years old. Born in Beacon on January 8th, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Howard L. and Vivienne Seydel Cassidy.
She grew up in, and spent most of her life in Fishkill, before moving to Hopewell Junction. Sandi graduated from Roy C Ketcham high school in 1966. She went on to study nursing at Dutchess Community College. But she started a family before finishing and did not return to work again until 1991 when she began her career at Castle Point VA Hospital. She was in Insurance administration there and it was her great joy and honor to make sure the Veterans received the benefits that they earned and deserved. She was very talented at making flower arrangements and learned that craft from years of helping her friend, the late, Tim Edmond, at Edmond's Florist in Fishkill. Another talent of hers was cooking. Sandi loved cooking for people. She would even be asked, on occasion, to cater parties even though she had no professional training. Most of all, Sandi will be remembered for her generous and caring nature. Even when times were tough, she would always put someone else's needs ahead of hers.
Sandi is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Jr. and Leslie Zeller, and Darren and Ivonne Zeller. She is also survived by her sister Linda Murray, Niece Karin Soma along with her husband Jay and children Brayden and Avery, Nephew Mark Murray and his husband Rob Zottarelli, and her cousin Elton "Buzz" Robinson and his family. Other survivors include her dearest friends Janet Scofield and Renee Jurgensen. Finally, she is survived by her beloved cat Angel along with all of her outdoor pet Hummingbirds and Chipmunks that she loved so much.
Sandi was never one to want to be the center of attention. Therefore, there will be no calling hours. There will be a Church service at St Mary's Church in Fishkill on Monday, September 25th at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation to either a Veteran or Animal cause is something Sandi would have loved.
