Herman C. Showalter Jr. Warren, Ohio Obituary

Herman C. Showalter Jr.

Herman C. Showalter Jr., age 66, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2019. He spent his last hours in his home surrounded by his wife, daughters, and other family members who love him. Herman was born on November 1, 1952 to Herman Sr. and Delores (Holland) Showalter, who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of Howland High School and had a long career as a steelworker. He retired as the supervisor of the blast furnace and water treatment plant. Herman married his soul mate, Martha Homa Showalter on April 28, 1972, and together they had three children, Monica (Jeff) Sarkany, Tracy (Scott Butler) Showalter, and Jason Showalter. Herman's proudest title was "Pappy" to his five grandchildren, Jeffrey and Aimie Sarkany, and Eliza, Ian, and Isaac Butler. He is survived by his wife, daughters, five brothers and sisters, a very large family of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and countless friends and acquaintances. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jason. Herman spent 27 years in this life missing his son, and he knew they would be reunited in heaven. Those who knew Herman will remember him as the life of the party. He was full of jokes, fun, and laughter. Herman didn't want a funeral; sad gatherings were never his style. Instead, the family will organize a celebration of life at a later date. In the meantime, turn the music up loud and raise a glass in his honor. It's what he would have wanted.
