Greer Funeral Home<br />235 South Pennsylvania<br />Mangum, Oklahoma 73554<br />(580) 782-3323<br /><br />PARSONS<br /><br />Nall Fernando Parsons, age 82, was born near Horsebranch Creek, south of Mangum, on March 25, 1934, to Arthur Fernando "Poss" Parsons and Naomi Caddel "Schoots" Parsons. Nall passed away Sunday morning, July 10, 2016, at English Village Manor, in Altus. He was the fifth of nine children and lived mostly in the Lake Creek and Brinkman area, as he grew up. In his school years, he was known by friends, family, and classmates by his childhood nickname; Peewee. He was a Brinkman High School graduate of 1951 and always enjoyed the Brinkman High School alumni gatherings. <br /><br />He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings; Maurice "Sister" Parsons Hager, A.C "Rooster" Parsons, and Paul F. Parsons. Surviving him is his sister Joyce Snow of Mangum, Larry Parsons of Olustee, Kati Jackson of Austin, Texas, Ed Parsons of Prescott, Arizona and Lynda Mihills of Cypress Mills, Texas.<br /><br />He was proficient at playing the guitar, mandolin, and fiddle and often joined his father playing in area music gatherings.<br /><br />His initial job was Oklahoma Natural Gas in Oklahoma City. After this he joined the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1961, seeing service in Japan during this time.<br />After his Navy discharge, he began an apprenticeship and schooling in Lubbock, Texas to become a licensed electrician. He joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and began a lifelong membership of that union. He worked on large electrical projects throughout the country for many years. His membership was at IBEW Local 640, Phoenix, Arizona until his death.<br /><br />Throughout his travels to different parts of the country for work, he remained a faithful member of the Elks and the American Legion. He was a member of the American Legion in Mangum and Mangum Elks before his recent illness. <br /><br />He is survived by many nieces, nephews and a host of friends. <br /><br />Graveside services for Nall F. Parsons will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Roselawn Cemetery with Pastor Shawn Johnson officiating.
