Mary Colgan Ziel Obituary

Mary Colgan Ziel, 91, of Brighton, Michigan passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Mary was a young woman ahead of her time. She decided to travel to the United States, and what began as a yearlong trip abroad, forever changed her life’s trajectory. While here, she met the love of her life, Bob. After a long courtship, they married and lived in Detroit until 1969, when they moved to Redford with their children. In 1978, they built their home in Brighton which would see children and grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  Mary and Bob also purchased a winter home in Florida where they enjoyed retirement.

Mary took great pride in her family.  She was a hard-worker – no matter what she did, she did it to the best of her ability. Mary’s life was a love story. She and Bob loved each other deeply and they enjoyed life to the fullest. That love was extended to her family. She loved fiercely and completely and instilled that in her children and their children.

Mary was a faithful and active member in her church communities.  Her faith was a steady foundation for her life. She prayed for her family and friends and others in need.

Mary has left us with a legacy of love.
