Leroy Lawson, 91, of Mattoon, passed away 2:14 a.m. January 13, 2018 in Mattoon Health Care. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 at Keller Cemetery, Lovington with Military Rites by the Lovington American Legion Post # 429. Visitation will he held one hour before the services at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Lovington. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Leroy was born September 21, 1926 in Lovington, the son of Rolla S. and Verle (Foster) Lawson. He married Karon G. Wilke on May 8, 1954 in Union City, TN. Leroy was a veteran of WWII in the Army Air Corp. He was retired from the Muller Company, Decatur after 35 years as a machinist. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 429, Lovington. He loved Western movies, gardening, photography and traveling with his wife. Leroy is survived by his wife, Karon; sons, William L. (Lori K.) Lawson of Lincoln and Michael (Peggy S.) Lawson, Sullivan; daughters, Kathron (Charles) Levandoski of Decatur, Susan (Patrick) Simpson of Willow Hill and Lesa (Scott) Stearns of Bloomington; sisters, Ann Davenport of Roseville, CA, and Mary Frantz of Lovington; 13 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and a granddaughter.
