Ray Lehman Buckwalter, 88 of North Lawrence, went home with the Lord on Friday, January 12, 2018. He was born on February 8, 1929 in Royersford, PA and was the son of the late Harvey and Naomi (Lehman) Buckwalter. Ray retired from Oakes Land Company after 33 years of service as a heavy equipment operator, repairman and supervisor. He was baptized at age 12 and was a 57 year member of Amherst Community Church, serving in many capacities, including deacon, trustee and ushering. His interests include hunting, woodworking and gardening. He was a Jack-of-all-trades and master of most. His gentle spirit touched all who knew him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Bryan Buckwalter, his brother Paul Buckwalter and his sister Beulah Oakes. Ray is survived by his wife, Ruth V. (Essick) Buckwalter. They would have been married 70 years on September 3rd 2018. Also survived by his daughters; Janice (Robert) Knapp and Maryl (Randy) Lehman, his son Dan (Diane) Buckwalter, his daughter-in-law, Lelah Buckwalter, 10 grandchildren; April (Darin) Ramser, Joseph (Hilary) Buckwalter, Katrina Dervin, Stephen (Brittany) Knapp, Brandon (Jessica) Lehman, Brent Lehman and Kirsten, Gideon, Chloe and Levi Buckwalter, 8 great grandchildren, his sisters; Arlene Van Riper and Esther (Nelson) Wingert and his sister-in-law Catherine Buckwalter. The funeral will take place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and on Monday from 10-11 a.m. The burial will take place at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant View Cemetery in North Lawrence.
