David Enders Obituary

David Enders: Feb. 13, 1950 - Aug. 7, 2023

David Lee Enders of Middleville, age 73, is at peace after passing away in the early morning hours of August 7, 2023.

Dave was born February 13, 1950 in Grand Rapids, MI, the son of Harold and Dorothy (Romans) Enders.

He graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1968 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Friends and family were one and the same with Dave. He gathered with them around a dining room table for the next hand of setback or whatever the card game of the moment was. He was in the living room to cheer on the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons and Lions with anyone who would fill the seats beside him. He kept up the pool that his nieces and nephews splashed in even long after his sons had grown and moved out. He loved a day at the beach. All of those types of activities swirled in the smell of the campfire at one of his family’s regular state park visits. Dave and his family and friends have an annual fall outing that fills nearly a dozen sites in Ludington.

Dave married his wife Sue (Bremer) in November of 1975 and the two lived and loved in Middleville throughout their 47 and a half years together. The couple had two sons: Brad and Brian. Dave coached them in youth baseball and AYSO soccer. He was a devoted husband, father and family man.

Dave could be kind, stern, loving and humorous as called for. His was a humor that skillfully combined the art of deception with the guffaw of a classic “dad joke.” He could be a practical joker at home and at the office. He could always make his granddaughters laugh, “cha, cha, cha!”

There was always room in his heart and his basement for a son’s friend or a family member who needed sanctuary for a time as they transitioned through life’s ups and downs.

Dave was a member of the Middleville United Methodist Church and happy to serve the Lord and his community through the United Methodist Men. He spent 25 years as the shipping foreman at Yamaha Musical in Grand Rapids directing drum kits to musicians and marching bands around the globe.

Dave is survived by his wife Sue Enders; his sons Brad (Melissa) Enders and Brian (Lynn Smith) Enders; his brother Robert (Michael Ann) Enders; grandchildren Eve and Thea Enders; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceeded in death by his parents.

The family would like to offer its thanks to the entire staff at Carveth Village.

A visitation will be held at Beeler-Gores Funeral Home in Middleville Friday, August 18, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Middleville United Methodist Church Saturday, August 19, at 11 a.m.
