Ralph Junior Wood, 92, of Eldon died Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia. He was born October 25, 1930, in Miller County, a son of Ralph and Gertie Vaughn Wood. On October 2, 1954, he was united in marriage in Decaturville to Odie “Bernice” Rogers, who survives at their home.
Ralph attended Tuscumbia High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Corporal. Following his military service, Ralph worked for Kraft Foods before retiring from Cargill after 20 years.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, attending family reunions and spending time with his family and church family.
In addition to his wife of over 68 years, Bernice, Ralph is survived by three children: Michael (Deanna) Wood of California, Calvin Wood of Eldon, Crystal Crow of Eldon; one brother, Vincel Wood of Eldon; seven grandchildren: Jessica Wood, Rebekah Wood, Justin Bukowsky, Christopher Crow, Cheyenne Crow, Jodie Wood, Callie Wood; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Clifford Wood, in 1997; and four brothers: Kenneth, Wayne, Leon and Gerald.
Friends will be received from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 4, 2023, at the Millard Family Cremation & Funeral Center, where funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Janice Sidebottom officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Eldon City Cemetery.
