ELMER J. BIELEMA, 92, of Harbor Crest Home, Fulton, IL, died Saturday, January 14, 2017, at Harbor Crest.Elmer was born November 30, 1924, in Fulton, IL to Jacob R. and Alice (VanderSchaaf) Bielema. He was educated in the Smith Grade School of rural Whiteside County. He married Marian E. VanZuiden on January 5, 1950, in Fulton, IL. She died August 11, 1993. Elmer was first employed by Fulton Corp and later at Farm and Fleet in Clinton, IA, until retiring in 1994. Elmer was a member of Second Reformed Church in Fulton and served as an usher. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, trains, and his pets. Elmer was an avid Cubs and Lumber Kings baseball fan.Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Howard) Paysen of Fulton, IL; three nephews, Brian Bielema, Ross (Michelle) Bielema and Brent Bielema.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marian; one sister, Harriet Schaver and one brother, Raymond Bielema. I worked with Elmer at Farm & Fleet for 8 years.Nicest man I ever worked with. I enjoyed going out to lunch with him many times. Ive always missed his humor.
