Lois D. Martin

Lois D. Martin, 84, of Olathe, Kansas passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, Sunday, December 24, 2017. She will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to everyone she met. Lois was born on March 27, 1933 in Fulton, Missouri to the late former Sheriff Paul O. Goodman and Betty (Farmer) Goodman. She was united in marriage to James R. Martin. He preceded her in death. Lois’s faith in God was of utmost importance to her and she had a strong desire to show Christ’s love to all she met. Lois was a member of the Church of God (Holiness) both in Fulton, Missouri and Overland Park, Kansas. Lois was an avid Bible reader and prayer warrior. She could be counted on any hour of the day to intercede on anyone’s behalf in prayer. Her greatest desire was that her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren be saved, so that we all would be together in Heaven. Lois is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Betty Goodman; husband, James R. Martin; son, Carl Martin; sisters, Dorothy Woods and Norma Maddox; and brother, Kenneth Goodman. Lois will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one sister, Carolyn Beers of Lynnwood, WA; two daughters, Betty Welch of Olathe, KS, and Ronda Compton of Spring Hill, KS; three sons, James Martin of Belton, MO, Paul Martin of Kansas City, KS, and Kent Martin of Roeland Park, KS; grandchildren, Angela Welch, Ashley Welch, Shawn Martin, Jason Martin, James Martin, Joshua Martin, Andrew Martin, Adam Wray, and Shawn Rendon; several great-grandchildren; and a special life-long friend, Norva Phillips Our mother’s relationship with Jesus was never doubted by any of her children. Jesus Christ was the Lover of her soul, and she walked and talked with him daily. She always prayed with passion, power, understanding, and many tears. She was a woman of great courage who faced every problem with confidence and in complete reliance upon her ever-present Lord. Mom, our hearts are broken. We grieve today, we will grieve tomorrow, and we will grieve all our days for you, our dear mother. We will miss you dearly but rest assure that we will meet you in the morning. Services will be private with Pastor Bruce Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens. Any contributions can be made to Kansas City College and Bible School, 7401 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66204. Condolences may be left for the family on this site.
