Pelzer - James Alan “Jay” Darby, Jr., 48, husband of Tabatha Renee Dowless Darby, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of James Alan “Jim” Darby, Sr. of Pelzer and of the late Linda Gail Singleton Darby. He was employed with Grundfos Americas Corporation. Jay served as a firefighter and EMT for the Clemson Fire Department and served as an EMT for Pelzer, Belton, and Greenville County EMS, as well as Medshore Ambulance.
In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by daughter, Brooke Alexis Darby of Columbia; son, Hunter Ambrose Darby of Pelzer; sister, Lori Darby Chapman (Chris) of Williamston; sister-in-law, Gigi Talbert (Gary) of Saluda, NC; and niece and nephew, Erin and Zachary Chapman.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 1, at 10:00 a.m. at Washington Baptist Church Family Life Center. The family will greet friends following the service.
It is requested that uniformed participants and all those attending wear something yellow in Jay’s memory.
