Marilyn J. Burroughs, a resident of Brighton, died peacefully on December 25, 2017. She was 85 years old. In June 1951 she married James at St Paul's church by the millpond in Brighton. During their 66 years of marriage they lived in several houses in Michigan and in Kansas while James was in the service. They settled down in Brighton in a home built by James and raised their children in the Brighton community that Marilyn was proud to be apart of. During her working years she worked in banking for 17 years, volunteered at LACASA and volunteered for many years in the Brighton School system where she started the 5th grade store at Spencer Elementary. Marilyn loved quilting, knitting, teaching crafts, watching Hallmark movies, swimming and being a stay at home mom. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband, James; son, Robert (Holly); daughter, Debra (Jason) Verbison; beloved grandchildren, Jillian, Matthew and Rachel Burroughs, Mason, Curtis, Miranda Verbison; niece, Julie and dear friend, Linda. She was preceded in death by her sister, Joy. A Memorial Service will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 5051 Pleasant Valley Rd, Brighton on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 11 AM, with gathering beginning at 10 AM.
