Susan Beth Meyer (55) of Atlanta, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2023. We are devastated by this loss and will miss her greatly.
Sue, as she was known to friends and family, was born in Buffalo, New York and spent time in her childhood in Columbus, Ohio. She lived in Norcross, Georgia briefly before going to college a year early at age 16. She obtained her Bachelor and Masters of Accounting at the University of Michigan. She joined Ernst & Young after college in 1989 served there continuously for 34 years until her passing. She became a Partner in Mergers and Acquisitions at the age of 32 and most recently was the Deputy Risk Management Leader for Americas and Transaction Advisory Services Partner. She loved her work and the people she worked with. She lived in Chicago, San Francisco, and Atlanta while working for EY.
Sue had a passion for travel and, along with her two best friends, Cheryl Guettler of Roswell, Georgia and Diane Janke of Chicago, she was well on her way to reaching her goal of the Travelers Century Club for visiting 100 or more countries. We think she was up to 70+. She was a foodie and savored the opportunity to try new and exotic foods and the wine to go with it. Although she played the violin when she was younger, she grew to be possibly the number one fan of the University of Michigan Marching Band and all things U of M. She was involved and supported the Ross Business School, art museum and scholarships at Michigan. Go Blue! She served on the board of the San Francisco Community Food Bank and the board of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity.
Sue was adored by her nephews and shared her love of travel and food with them. She is survived by her parents, Henry and Jewell Meyer of Duluth, Georgia, sister and brother in-law Howard and Sally Meyer Jetmundsen of Norcross, Georgia, nephews Norman Jetmundsen of Phoenix, Arizona and Bennett Jetmundsen of Auburn, Alabama, and of course, Sammy, her adoring dog.
