Doris Ann Turk, 92, of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Franciscan East Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born on March 10, 1931 in Indianapolis to the late Fred E. and Tessie P. (Johnston) Heacock.
Doris grew up in the Indianapolis area and graduated from Beech Grove High School with the class of 1949.
On July 25, 1951 she was married to Clifford “Cliff" F. Turk in Beech Grove, IN, spending over 60 years together before he passed in 2012.
Doris was a homemaker for many years at her home in Lafayette, then in Wyoming, Arizona, and Utah. During her children’s educational years, she volunteered at the Catholic schools. In addition, she volunteered for many years at St. Elizabeth Hospital as an Auxiliary lady, otherwise known as a “Lady in Pink”.
She was very devout in her faith and was a former parishioner of The Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Lafayette.
Doris enjoyed gardening, camping with her camping club and ceramics in her younger years. She was an avid football fan of many teams, but her heart belonged to the Green Bay Packers.
Surviving are her children, Randy (Trish) Turk of Lafayette, Terry (Richard) Turk Hobbs of Evans, Colorado, and Cheryl (Jeff) Kolb of Lafayette. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jennifer (Tony) Roberts, Jerrod Hobbs, Danae Kolb, and Kaelin (Brian) Mazzara, along with five great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her older sister, Vivian McReynolds and her twin sister, Donna Kamstra.
Doris will be laid to rest by her husband, Cliff in Pinedale Cemetery, Wyoming.
