Hilary Clow Obituary

Hilary Clow, 69, of Franklin, IN, passed away peacefully at home June 2, 2023. She was born June 11, 1953 in Swarthmore, PA to William “Bill” Smith and Ethelwyn Davison. She was the 2nd of 5 children.

Hilary was raised in Swarthmore. She graduated from Swarthmore High School in 1971. After high school, she began a career at INA, which later became CIGNA. She relocated to Lindenwold, NJ, where she met her husband.

Hilary married Greg Clow alongside family in an intimate ceremony on August 11, 1989, in Olney, IL. They welcomed a son, Gregory, in 1989, and a daughter, Ashley, in 1991, both born in New Jersey, where they’d resided for some time.

In 1998, Hilary and her family relocated to central Indiana, first in Greenwood, and later, settled in Franklin.

Hilary was most known by immediate family for her love of wine, books, and music. Above all, she was a proud mother and NaNa. Her son has continued an admirable career with the U.S. Navy, while her daughter has accomplished leadership position within her role in healthcare. She was a proud mother and NaNa, and a devoted wife for over 30 years. She was committed to her family above all else. She was always smiling when she had her grandchildren in her home.

Hilary is survived by her husband, Greg Clow, her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Katherine Clow, her daughter and son-in-law Ashley and Christopher Bruns, her grandson Peyton Bruns, her granddaughters Emeline, Scarlette, Cora, and Eleanor Clow, her brother and sister-in-law Mallory and Bonnie Smith, her sister and brother-in-law Meri and Doug Witmer, her brother and sister-in-law David and Susan Smith, her brother-in-law Sergio Lopez, and their beautiful families.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethelwyn Davison, her father, William “Bill” Smith, her sister, Ethelwyn Lopez, and her granddaughter, Vivianne Clow.

At Hilary’s request, there will be no service. Family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society. You can contribute at the below website:
