Pauline J Scott Obituary

Pauline Joya Scott, a long-time resident of Darien and recent resident of Monroe, passed away on Sunday May 29, 2023 at home. Born on March 1, 1925 in Pelham, NY to the late Frank Ward and Madeline Schwartz Ward, she was the youngest of seven children. She was 98 years old.

Pauline graduated from Pelham High School and worked as an executive assistant in her younger years. She then met her husband, Eric Cyril Scott, and they had three sons. She was a proud homemaker in Darien from 1965 to 1998. Pauline and Eric loved road trips in their MG, including two famous road trips: the Coast to Coast in 1986 and the Circuit of Britain and Scotland in 1996, where 100 cars were shipped overseas for the event. These trips were remembered fondly through pictures, stories, and memories by the Scott family. Pauline also enjoyed boating on the Long Island Sound, going to the vineyard, dancing, and listening to Country and Western music.

Pauline and Eric also enjoyed biking and long walks on Church Rd. in Jackson Corners, NY, where they had a second home which they referred to as the "Country Retreat." She was a member of the Darien YMCA and loved swimming. She also loved ice skating and cross-country skiing. As a hobby, Pauline became interested in Homeopathic practices and Holistic medicine. She enjoyed a healthy cuisine and lifestyle.

Pauline is survived by her three sons: James Scott (wife, Pat Ortman), Bruce Scott, and Robert Scott. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Nicholas, Lila, and Ericson, as well as her longtime caretaker and friend Margaret Gyan. She was predeceased by her husband, Eric, in 2021; and her six siblings: Frank, Lloyd, Madeline, Elizabeth, Patricia, and Anne.

A calling hour will be held at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd. Darien CT 06820, on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
