<p>&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;George Elmer Chandler was born on April 21, 1937, in Melfa, Virginia.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was the second of eight children, born to the late Elijah and Elnora Chandler.&nbsp;&nbsp;His siblings Elijah "Chip" Jr. and James "Duke" preceded him in death.&nbsp;&nbsp;He received his primary and secondary education in the Accomack County school system.&nbsp;&nbsp;He also received various leadership, aircraft maintenance, and business training from the United States Air Force and the Boeing Corporation.&nbsp;&nbsp;Having the benefits of God-fearing parents, George heard the story of Jesus at an early age and desired to follow Him.&nbsp;&nbsp;As a result, he became a life-long disciple of the Churches of Christ in his early twenties.&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In September of 1958, at 21, he joined the United States Air Force specializing in aircraft maintenance, beginning the start of a thirty-year career that would take him and his family worldwide, protecting and defending the United States and its allies, culminating in him achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant (E-9).&nbsp;&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;On September 14, 1960, he married Juanita Perry (lovingly known to family as “Miss America”) from Newport News, VA.&nbsp;&nbsp;To this blessed union, two children were born, George II and Darlene Michelle.&nbsp;&nbsp;He loved his bride, children, and grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp;He enjoyed spending time with them, fishing, sporting events, traveling, and eating chicken wings!&nbsp;&nbsp;George had an outgoing demeanor; everyone was his friend, and he was always willing to lend a hand when needed.&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition, he had a quiet wisdom that let you know the error of your ways in a loving, gentle way. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Dad was a blessing and provider to family and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was unselfish and always there when you needed him.&nbsp;&nbsp;Cherishing George's memory are his children, George II (Tamara) and Darlene Groce (Mark);&nbsp;&nbsp;five grandchildren Alexis Mackin (Keegan), Matthew Groce, Grant Chandler, Kaylee Groce, and Andrew Chandler;&nbsp;&nbsp;two brothers, Nelson (Dorin), and Charles (Margaret);&nbsp;&nbsp;three sisters, Barbara Chandler, Celestine Beckett (Andrew), and Survilla Mitchell (Fred), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who genuinely love and will miss him. </p><p>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;A funeral service will be 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Wyoming Church, 216 Wyoming Mill Road, Dover, DE&nbsp;&nbsp;19904 where there will be a viewing from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Tuesday.&nbsp;&nbsp;A committal service, with military honors, will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 22, 2023 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE&nbsp;&nbsp;19966.&nbsp;&nbsp;Online condolences may be made via&nbsp;www.pippinfuneralhome.com. </p>
