Dennis Frederick Conour Obituary

Dennis F. Conour, 84, of Montreal, MO, passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at home surrounded by the love of his family.


Dennis was born August 24, 1938, in Burke, South Dakota. He is the son of Arlene (Bond) Seyeller and Fredrick Weickum and subsequently adopted by James Conour at a young age.


Dennis joined the Navy when he was 17 years old and was stationed on the USS Hana DE449 where he worked as a 3rd class boiler tender. When he left the Navy, he found work as a lineman. He spent many years climbing poles. He also had his own business for some time, Shabbona Tree Service, in Shabbona, IL.


In addition to being proud of being in the Navy, he was extremely proud of the fact that he was part of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 60 years. He was pinned earlier this year for this accomplishment. He served on the board at the union for several years.


He was united in marriage to Beverly (Clemons) Conour on September 19, 1989, in Richmond, IL. Dennis was the most caring loving husband, father, and grandfather. He also loved going to church and loved Jesus and God. He will be missed greatly by all who know him.


He always had a smile on his face and loved to make people laugh, he also loved to leave little cute messages on his family members facebook posts, always sending love to each of them.


He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and brother and will be missed greatly by all who knew him.


Dennis is survived by four children, Debbie (Lisenby) & Dale Rover, Troy, MO, Victoria (Conour) & Steve Pontell of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; Denise (Conour) & Rod Basala of Casa Grande, AZ; David & Linda Conour of Loves Park, IL; and three siblings, Robert Conour, Carol Knutson, Karen Wuchte. He has 20 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.


Dennis also gained, through his marriage with Beverly, 3 children, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren, whom he loved as his own.


In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by two daughters Lori (Lisenby) Leonard, Kimberly (Conour) Urquizu, one son in law Ron Leonard, two siblings, Richard Conour and Jackie DeHart, and one grandson, Michael Pontell.
