Avis Marie Johnson Obituary

FARMINGTON -Avis Johnson, a beloved pillar of her family and community, departed this life on June 5, 2023, at the age of 88. Born on September 12, 1934, Avis embodied love, dedication, and joy in all aspects of her life, and she leaves behind a legacy of vibrant memories.

Avis was a woman of great devotion and heart. Her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother were not just titles, but the essence of her life. Her love for her home was reflected in her beautifully maintained yard and flower gardens, symbols of her nurturing spirit.

Her love as a mother was shown in the care she took of her home and the precision with which she prepared meals, never failing to have a hearty dinner on the table at 4:30pm sharp. Her playful spirit shone in her relationship with her youngest daughter, where she was not just a mother, but a friend and playmate.

Her role as a grandmother was filled with joy and laughter. She was a playmate and a partner in mischief, always ready to spoil her grandchildren with delectable treats and endless love.

Avis had a special place in her heart for old country music. This passion echoed from her room at Edgewood Rehabilitation, where her customized playlist of timeless favorites always guided visitors to her. Her younger years were filled with music, and her singing and dancing brought joy to all who knew her.

Avis was predeceased by her devoted husband, Robert Johnson Sr., who passed away on December 3, 2017. Their enduring bond was a testament to true love, with a beautiful marriage that lasted 67 remarkable years.

She is survived by her two sisters Theresa Besson and Evelyn Gassett, many nieces and nephews, five children, 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren: Robert Johnson Jr., his wife Dorothy, and their daughters, Michelle Gagnon and Carrie Cousins; Susan Ronald, her husband David and their daughters, Amy Cutler, Angie Lee, and Leigh Ronald; Rhonda Walker her husband Rollan, and their children, Tom Walker, Scott Walker, and Emily Walker; Robin Jordan, her husband James, and their children, Kelly Rasmussen and Michael Jordan; and Julie Dubuc and her children, Brittany Dubuc, Bowen Dubuc, and Noah Dubuc.

Avis Johnson was a beacon of love, a vivacious spirit, and a cornerstone of her family. Her legacy, like the country music she loved, will continue to play in the hearts of her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
