<p>In loving memory of John Patrick Byrnes who passed peacefully away on June 2nd, 2023, at his home with loving family at his side, in Capreol, at the age of 88 years. If we could just turn back time and tell you how much we love you or hear your voice one more time. Living without you is the hardest part of all. Happy memories remind us of you when someone mentions your name. Our special time with you will live within our hearts forever. Loving husband to Gloria (nee O’Connor) Byrnes (predeceased 2006). Sadly missed by son Bryan, daughter Carey (Neil Higgins), granddaughters; Johanna, Charlotte and Ashley. Dear son of Thomas and Johanna (Madigan) Byrnes, both predeceased. Cherished brother of Clem (predeceased) (wife Dorothy), Reg (predeceased) (wife Lorraine), Terry (wife Sylvia), Martin (wife Beverly), Jackie Foster (predeceased), Noreen Resmer, James (wife Jeannie), Patricia Yantha (husband Ed) and Michael (predeceased) (wife Marnie). Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. John married the love of his life Gloria on May 20, 1961, and they enjoyed many happy years together until her passing in 2006.</p><p>John was much loved by the community. He was a conductor with CNR with 38 years of service, retiring in 1990. He was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus. A devout Roman Catholic, faithfully attending Our Lady of Peace Church where he participated in the parish ministries. He had been the Vice Chair of the United Transport Union and volunteered with the Capreol Railway Museum. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. John was devoted to his family especially his precious grandchildren. The light of his life will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.</p><p>In lieu of flowers donations to the Our Lady of Peace Church (Capreol) or Capreol Railway Museum would be appreciated. </p><p>Resting at the Lougheed Funeral Home Hanmer / Capreol Chapel, 4601 Michelle Dr., Hanmer.
