Ellen Orr, 96, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 1, 2023 at Eventide, Jamestown.

Ellen D. Orr was born January 17, 1927, the daughter of Stanley and Ruth Nicholls.  The family lived in the Ypsilanti, ND area and Ellen received a teaching certificate from Valley City College.  She taught at a rural school before she was united in marriage to Floyd Orr on November 17, 1944.  They bought the “Corwin Farm” where they farmed together for 50 years. They retired to Ypsilanti, and then to Jamestown in 2007.  Ellen also drove school bus and worked for Wal-Mart for 10 years. 

Ellen was a member of the Ypsilanti Lutheran Church until it closed and then joined Montpelier Lutheran Church where she was involved in various church activities.  She was also a member of the Elks and the Ladies’ Auxiliary.  Her family would like to thank the Eventide staff for Ellen’s care for the last 5 years. 

Ellen is survived by her children, David (Karon) Orr, Steven (Anthony) Orr, Nancy (George) Couvillon, Lindsay (Julie) Orr, and Christine (Rusty Richardson) Krenz.  She loved her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; sisters, Joyce Kloubec and Patricia Holden; brothers-in-law, Clifford Orr, Paul (Dorie) Orr; sisters-in-law, Vonnie (Darrell) Entzminger and Doris Orr.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son-in-law, Mark Krenz; in-laws, Marion, Helen and Louise Orr; sister, Maida Sjoberg; brothers, Fred Nicholls and Gene Nicholls; many brothers and sisters-in-law.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Susan Haukaas officiating.

Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.

Interment: James Valley Cemetery, Ypsilanti, ND.
