Paul D. Brochu, age 79, died Thursday, June 1, 2023, at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta following a long illness. He was born in Augusta, ME on September 19, 1943, a son of the late Dorilas and Rose (Grondin) Brochu.

Paul was independent from an early age. He was a work driven entrepreneur beginning in his childhood, right to adulthood, owning his own business, Brochu’s Floor Sanding. He loved spending time in the Allagash, hunting and fishing, telling stories and jokes.

He was pre-deceased by his wife, Donna L. (Allen) Brochu who died April 22, 2023; three sisters: Claire Lavigne, Patricia Tanner and Jeanette Clowes and five brothers: Rene, Gerald, O’Neil, Norman and Robert Brochu.

Mr. Brochu is survived by his son, Paul “Al” Brochu and his wife Lisa of Augusta; two daughters: Melissa Brochu and her significant other, Larry Severance of Augusta and Cathy Lucas and her husband Jim of Augusta; seven grandchildren: Donald John, Joel Michael, Alyssa Rae, Arika Marie, Bryant James, Brady Michael and Leeann Marie; a great granddaughter, Rosalie Grace; a sister, Rachel Siviski of Augusta; two brothers: Raymond Brochu of Vassalboro and Richard Brochu of Augusta and several nieces, nephews, uncles and cousins.

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours or services. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery at a later date.
