John "Jack" H. Phelps

<b>John "Jack" H. Phelps, age 96, a lifelong resident of Plainfield, IL. Promoted to Eternal Life Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Lakewood Center in Plainfield. Jack was born on February 8, 1919 in Joliet. Jack is survived by his loving children, Jim (Rose) Phelps, Ken Phelps, both of Plainfield, and Diane (Tim) Hunt of Chesterfield, MO; his special grandchildren, Mike (Shari) Phelps, Lisa (Matt) Belden, Lindsay Hunt (fianc Tim McLaughlin), Lauren (Matt) Jarrell, and Taylor Phelps; his cherished great-grandchildren, Jack and Alison Phelps, Reese, Max and Zoie Belden; his dear sister, Mary (late Harvey) Lewis, Nancy Cox, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife and best friend of 61 years, Evelyn (nee Fox) Phelps, parents, Howard and Edna (nee Cryder) Phelps, sister, Norma (late Marshall) Fulmer, and brother, William "Bill" (late Mary) Phelps. Jack was a WWII Veteran who served his country in the South Pacific Theater, an active member of the Peace Lutheran Church and a lifelong farmer. His memory as a loving husband, father, and grandfather will never fade from his family's heart. </b> <b>Funeral Information</b> Visitation will be Sunday, November 15, 2:00 until 5:00 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home Cremation Services, corner of Routes 30 59, Plainfield. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 16, 10:30 AM at the Peace Lutheran Church, 24024 West Main St. Plainfield. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Joliet.
