Joe R. Hibdon

Joe R. Hibdon, age 70, of Peculiar, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023, in Stover, Missouri. He was born on August 10th, 1952, in Versailles, Missouri to his parents Doris and Willie Allen Hibdon.

On April 24th, 1971, Joe was united in marriage to Nancy Cleveland in Pleasant Hill, Missouri. They shared 52 years of marriage at the time of his passing.

Joe served his country in the United the States Army. For over 50 years, he worked in the steel and water products industries as an experienced welder. Joe was a man who loved God and his family, which meant everything to him. There was nothing he enjoyed more than spending time with his sons, daughter-in-law, and grandkids. He enjoyed coaching his sons and grandchildren in baseball or softball. Joe wanted to have a good time no matter what he was doing. Telling jokes or playing pranks on friends and family always brought him joy. He also loved fishing, hunting, and meeting new people; he never met a stranger. Joe was ready to help anyone at any time. He absolutely loved duct tape and thought it could fix anything.

Joe is survived by his wife of the home, Nancy Hibdon, sons Gary Hibdon and wife Amy, and James (Jimmy Joe) Hibdon of Peculiar, Missouri; brothers Jerry Hibdon and wife Kay and John Hibdon and wife Cheryl of Stover, Missouri; sisters Joyce Blue of Raytown, Missouri and Janice Sidebottom and husband Raymond of Eldon, Missouri; and 3 grandchildren, Braeden, Emma and Marah.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Doris and Willie Hibdon and siblings Jim, Judy and Jane.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 9th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Peculiar United Methodist Church, 20521 S. School Rd., Peculiar, Missouri 64078. Following visitation, a Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the church. Interment following service at 3:30 p.m. at Wills Cemetery, 21825 S Thorngrove Rd, Peculiar, MO 64078.
