Gerald Wood Murchison Sr.
<p>Presque Isle - Gerald Wood Murchison Sr., 81, passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 13, 1941, in Castle Hill Maine to Kenneth Chandler Murchison and Bertha Agatha (Burgoyne) Murchison.</p><p><br></p><p>He attended Mapleton High School and soon after began working at the starch factory with his soon to be father-in-law, Winfield Langley. In 1966 he joined the Presque Isle fire department where he spent 25 years as a firefighter until retiring in 1991. Although retired, he enjoyed keeping busy and continued to work, including at Porteous and the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Gerald prided himself on hard work and as a jack of all trades, took on many side jobs over the years.</p><p><br></p><p>Gerald was predeceased by his mother, father, sisters, and brothers. He was the last remaining member of his family to pass.</p><p><br></p><p>Gerald is survived by the love of his life, Linda (Langley) Murchison of 61 years, his children Gerald Murchison Jr. of Presque Isle, Laurisa (Murchison) Charette and her spouse, Dr. Robb Stidwill of Concord, NH, and Melissa Murchison of Presque Isle. He had a special love for his grandchildren; Kaci (Murchison) Ireland and her spouse Matthew, Alyssa (Murchison) Miller and her spouse Joshua, Ashley Charette and her partner Nickolaus Edwards, Brooke (Murchison) Martin and her spouse Andrew, and Nicholas Charette and his spouse Kara Bell. He also cherished his great-grandchildren, Mason, Evan, Maisie, Emmett, Jaxson, Maddox, and Mia.</p><p><br></p><p>Anyone who knew Gerald knew his special love for his family and especially his grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>Friends and family may call 10 am, Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the Duncan Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle, where a service will be held at 11 am with the Rev. Larry Palmer officiating. A committal service will be held at the Fairmount Cemetery, in Presque Isle, immediately following the service.
