<p>Gilbert C. Madrid “Titin”, 81, of Bayard passed away at his residence surrounded by loved ones on Monday, May 29, 2023. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Baca’s Funeral Chapels. </p><p>Gilbert was born on April 27, 1942 in Silver City, NM to Willie W. and Genoveva C. Madrid. He worked for 45 years underground and retired from Cobre Mines. Gilbert was a hard worker and a good provider. In his off time, he enjoyed singing and playing his guitar at gatherings with his family, Linda Madrid, Paul Madrid, and Danny Cordova. He also loved going to Georgetown to pick ‘yerba del indio’. </p><p>Gilbert is survived by his daughter, Christina “Tina” Madrid (Leandro); two sons, Michael N. Madrid (Anita) of Las Cruces, Gilbert N. Madrid of Bayard, Becky Ortiz of Bayard; his two grandchildren whom he raised as his own, Valerie Amador, David Amador (Ashton Apodaca); brother-in-law, Lorenzo Norero of Bayard; son-in-law, Steve Ordoñez of Bayard; his grandchildren, Stevie and Andy Ordoñez, Jocelyn Sias, Olivia and Ruben Granillo, Gilbert M. Madrid Jr.; his great-grandchildren he raised , the love of his life, his two babies Frances and Amiyah Sandoval; the rest of his great-grandchildren, Kara and Ezekiel Ordoñez, Victoria Chavez, Andra Villa, Ruben Granillo, Marcos Hernandez Jr., and Xavier Cuevas; one brother, Willie C. Madrid (Patricia) of Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Adelina C. Madrid of Las Cruces; Esther M. Welcome (William) of Bayard; Rudy Sandoval who was like a son to him; many special friends and numerous nieces and nephews. </p><p>He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years, Helen N. Madrid; his daughter, Priscilla Ordoñez; his parents; sister, Minnie Villalobos; and his brother-in-law, Chon Villalobos. </p>
