Dorothy J. Hogan passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023.


Born in Laurel, Long Island, NY on January 17, 1942 she was the daughter of Sophie and Walter Frank Truskolaski.


Dorothy was a 1959 graduate of Greenport High School and a 1963 Graduate of SUNY Albany. Following graduation from college Dorothy became a middle school science teacher in suburban Boston. After two years teaching Dorothy returned to SUNY Albany and earned a Master’s Degree in Library Science in 1968. Then enlisted in the US Army, Special Services Agency where she was an administrative librarian for base libraries. This two year period provided her the opportunity to tour the sites in Europe. After returning to the US she was employed as an assistant librarian at SUNY Albany. Dorothy married Frank James Hogan on January 10, 1973 and after 7 years as a homemaker she returned as a librarian to the NY State Civil Services, retiring in 1989 from NY State DOT Research Library.


Following retirement Frank and Dorothy enjoyed 12 winters in Englewood, FL.


Dorothy was a talented cook, seamstress, and an avid crafter, and was a frequent resource for information regarding all these areas.


In addition to her husband Frank, Dorothy is survived by her son James Hogan (Rebecca), her daughter Maureen Vosmek (John), her sister Susan Droskoski (John) and her four Grandchildren, Mason and Miriam Vosmek, and Eliza and Adeline Hogan.


A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1:00PM on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl. Delmar. The family will receive visitors at the church 12:00 to 1:00 before the Mass.


Interment will be private.
