Services for Elaine A. Fjelsrud, 85, of Armstrong, IA, will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2023, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, MN. Burial will be held in Armstrong Grove Cemetery in Armstrong, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time-of-service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2023, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert. Elaine passed away Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Accura Healthcare Center in Bancroft, IA. The Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements. Elaine Ann (Goebel) Fjelsrud was born on September 2, 1937, in Tenhassen Township, Martin County, MN, the daughter of Martin A. and Anna A. (Panzer) Goebel. Elaine was baptized on September 12, 1937, and confirmed on April 6, 1952, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert, MN.

Elaine attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Parochial School in Wilbert and later attended high school in Fairmont.

On August 6, 1966, Elaine was united in marriage to Helmer Fjelsrud at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert. The couple made their home on the Fjelsrud family farm near Armstrong, IA, and were blessed with a daughter, Joan.

Elaine loved life on the farm and cherished spending time with friends and family. She was known for her punctuality at area events and enjoyed clipping items from the newspaper. Her quiet time was spent working on needle point creating beautiful gifts that she shared with those she cared about. Elaine was a life-member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wilbert and was also a member of the LWML. She also took great pride in being a member of the Armstrong Museum.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Joan Fjelsrud of Armstrong, IA; siblings, Laraine Ritchie of Rochester, MN, Marv Goebel of Fairmont, MN, Velmer (Lori) Goebel of Enid, OK, and Marlys Goebel of Minneapolis, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Anna (Panzer) Goebel; husband, Helmer Fjelsrud; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John & Hansena Fjelsrud; sister-in-law, Janice Goebel.
