Richard A. Guilford

<p>South Paris – Richard A. Guilford, 86, passed away on May 24, 2023. He was born on August 21, 1936, the son of Adelbert “Dellie” and Ruth (Smith) Guilford. He graduated from Norway High School in 1955. During high school he played baseball and basketball. He represented Norway high school at the State Foul shooting contest in Portland making 45/50. He married Janice DeCato in 1960. He worked for AC Lawrence Leather Co for 24 years, Howell Labs in Bridgton for 18 years, he then cleaned offices at night.</p><p>Richard enjoyed camping at Pine Tree Campground, loved Oxford Hills sports, Sea Dogs and Red Sox games. He continuously visited Florida and Myrtle Beach for 25 years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, OHMPAA Plays and Lewiston Plays. He especially enjoyed the three coffee groups he was a part of.</p><p>He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Carol Maynard, and siblings Dellie Jr., Cecil, Howie, Gene, Dot, Pat and Don.</p><p>He is survived by his wife Janice, daughter Meryl Noel, grandchildren John Garrish, Miranda and Samantha Wormwood, Matt, Ryan and Kevin Noel; son-in-law John Wormwood; his sister Judy; and many nieces and nephews.</p><p>A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 2pm at Riverside Annex Cemetery in South Paris. Reception to follow at the VFW Hall on East Main St., South Paris. Donations can be made in his memory to the Cancer Resource Center in Norway.
