Michael Czape Obituary

Michael Czape, loving father, devoted husband, and active community member, passed away on May 29, 2023. He was 79 years old, just 2 days shy of his 80th birthday. 

Mike was an Army veteran, a University of Detroit graduate, and was employed by both Sears Roebuck and Louisville Gas and Electric as a computer auditor. Mike and wife Marilyn moved to Jeffersonville in 1972, where their two daughters Chandra and Kayla were born and attended local public schools . Mike was active in volunteer work in the community including Oak Park Neighborhood Association, Jeffersonville Neighborhood Leadership Alliance (JNLA), Big Brothers, City Pride, Hosparus, and as a volunteer tennis coach at local middle and high schools. Mike made a considerable contribution to the building of the Jeff High Tennis Center by helping to raise money for its construction.

Mike's hobbies and passions were numerous. Mike never sat still and loved his life of annual fishing trips with his buddies, betting on the horses, working at his Patoka cabin, and collecting everything from baseball cards to old books. He enjoyed all sports, both watching and participating, especially his over 60 tennis group, fly fishing club, and weekly horseshoe games. Bridge, Poker and Euchre clubs with family and friends were also frequent activities for Mike.

Mike is survived by his wife Marilyn, daughters Chandra Turner (Paul) and Kayla Fourzali (Roberto) and four grandchildren, Madelyn Turner, Grant Turner, Leo Fourzali, and Zane Fourzali, two sisters, Evelyn Chittaro and Mary Ann Coke, numerous nieces and nephews, local cousin and friend, Greg Sartor, plus numerous friends and neighbors and lastly,  his loving dog Harvey II.

A memorial visitation for the family and friends will take place at Scott Funeral Home, 2515 Veterans Parkway at on Saturday June 24th from 4-7 pm.
