Obituary
Lagorda Abercrombie was born on July 14, 1959, in Greenville, South Carolina, the son of the late Robert Lucas Abercrombie and Patricia Mae Lawrence Abercrombie. He entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Lexington Medical Center.
Lagorda “GAR”, as he was affectionately called, received his education in the public school system of Richland County and graduated from Lower Richland High School. After working for more than twenty (20) years in the school system, he retired from Lexington/Richland School District Five in 2022 to enjoy life with his family. In 1997, along with his family, he became a member of the Brookland Baptist Church.
Lagorda was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, the former Vanessa Murray , on June 25, 1983. Their union was blessed with almost 40 years of love and devotion to each other, and the births of three children.
Lagorda was truly a loving person who had a big heart and did not mind letting his light shine bright. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Cooking on the grill was one of his favorite things to do. He also enjoyed fishing, playing his bass guitar, and watching sports. His favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his parents, Lagorda was also preceded in death by a twin brother, Ricarda Abercrombie; and a sister, Sonji Yvette Abercrombie.
Left to cherish memories of his life, legacy, and love are his devoted wife, Vanessa M. Abercrombie of the home; two sons, Ricarda S. Abercrombie of Rochester, NJ; Justin D. Abercrombie of Columbia, SC; one daughter, Sydney N. Abercrombie of Greenville, SC; three brothers, Robert L. (Carmen) Abercrombie, Jr., Lawrence O. Abercrombie both of Fayetteville, NC; and Vent (Terri) Abercrombie of Charlotte, NC; one sister, Debora D. (Ralph) Abercrombie of Charlotte, NC; a godson, Michael Salley, II of Irmo, SC; mother-in-love, Annie M. Murray of Sumter, SC; two sisters-in-love, Sylvia L. Murray, and Valarie M. (Kenneth) Williams, both of Irmo, SC; as well as a host of adoring nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and dear friends, all of whom will dearly miss him, but rejoice that he is resting with the Lord.
