<p>The beautiful life of Eva Mae Pollock began on December 23, 1942, in Irmo, South Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the amazing, late Leila Mae Pollock and the late George Washington Pollock.&nbsp; She was raised in a loving home by her mother and adoring stepfather, John Henry “Pa” Pollock. Eva was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who loved and gave of herself unconditionally to those around her. </p><p>Eva graduated from Richlex High School where she excelled in the Choral Club, Commercial Club, and Drama club.&nbsp; She aspired to be an artist. She embraced her artistic gifts all her life, taking classes to learn ceramics, painting, crocheting, and sewing.&nbsp; Eva was a phenomenal singer who was blessed with an anointed voice.&nbsp; A natural entertainer, her charismatic nature, quick-wit, and impeccable comedic timing brought laughter and joy to all who knew her. </p><p>Eva had an amazing zest for life and was a beacon of light to many.&nbsp;She enjoyed life to the fullest and made many precious memories on her journey. When Eva was not spending time with her family, her pastimes included tending to her yard, planting flowers, playing bingo, cleaning, singing and listening to some of her favorite gospel singers, such as Lee Williams, Tommy Ellison, The Canton Spirituals, The Williams Brothers, and so many other legendary gospel artists. &nbsp;Eva was also a gospel favorite to many people. Her album titled “Eva Mae Pollock Gospel Classics”, is regularly played by many to this day. </p><p>Eva was an employee at MEPCO Electric for several years before her entrepreneurial spirit led her to become a caregiver to those young and old.&nbsp; She later decided to pursue her career in cosmetology. After graduating from Kenneth Schuler School of Cosmetology and attending the University of South Carolina Continuing Education division, she opened her own hair salon. Her education and experience allowed her small business to thrive. </p><p>Eva was a beloved and valued lifelong member of the Irmo community. She was extremely proud of who she was, and where she came from.&nbsp; Eva was known for her strong Christian faith.&nbsp; Her unique singing voice made her a sought-after talent for many church and social events.&nbsp; She was a faithful member of Greater “Hopewell” A.M.E. Church, Irmo, SC for decades where she led the choir and received various commendations including a Certificate of Achievement as the Praise &amp; Worship Ministry Chairperson &amp; Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding &amp; Dedicated Service throughout the years.&nbsp; In her later years, she joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Irmo, SC where she faithfully attended until her health faltered, and she was&nbsp;unable to attend. </p><p>Eva departed this earthly life on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at Parkridge Baptist Hospital where her spirit was reclaimed to be present with the Lord.&nbsp; She was greatly loved and will be missed by many, but her legacy of love and laughter will continue to live on through her family, friends, music, and all the lives she touched. </p><p>In addition to her parents and her son Jerome, Eva was&nbsp; preceded in death by eight (8) brothers; and seven (7) sisters. </p><p>Those who will forever cherish Eva’s precious memories are her loving daughter, Jillian Reeves Ortiz of Los Angeles, CA; two (2) adoring sons, Patrick Pollock of Irmo, SC, and Marcus (De Shaunn) Pollock of Gibsonville, NC; caring sisters and &nbsp;brothers,&nbsp; Alberta Lybrand, Carolyn Pollock,&nbsp;Donnie Pollock, Elton (Beverly) Pollock and&nbsp;George (Laura Ann) Pollock&nbsp;all of Irmo, SC;&nbsp;&nbsp;Floria Pollock and Larry Pollock of Providence, RI;&nbsp;&nbsp;Mattie Nixon of Columbia, SC;&nbsp;Roosevelt Pollock of Lawnside, NJ; four (4) beloved grandchildren Gabriel, Gabriela, Isaiah &amp; Candenia; five (5) great-grandchildren and a host of other loving relatives and friends. </p>
