<p>&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>Robert S. Smith, 84, of New Stanton, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2023 at RNC of Greensburg, PA surrounded by his family. He was born December 11, 1938 in Greensburg, PA. Son of the late Russell E. and Lillian O. (Webber) Smith. He was a graduate of Youngwood High School Class of 1956. Bob worked and retired from Detroit Mold Engineering Company as a machinist and then shipping and receiving clerk after 36 years of service. He was a 46-year member of Hilltop United Methodist Church, where he served through the years as a Sunday School teacher, trustee, usher and greeter. And he sang in the choir for many years. Bob was very active in sports growing up and played basketball and baseball in high school. Later in life, he coached softball for Hilltop United Methodist Church, as well as Middletown Little League Baseball for 16 years. His favorite place to be was outdoors; hunting and fishing at his camp in Potter County, Somerset, Ligonier, Bedford and out west. He enjoyed golfing, hiking, listening to music, watching MASH on television and always had a large garden. Bob loved to travel and vacation at the beach with his wife, Brenda. They began vacationing with their children at Myrtle Beach, Rehoboth Beach and Florida. Later in life, they settled in South Carolina as snow birds. He loved spending time with his grandkids. They played board games, corn hole, bingo and he enjoyed teaching them how to fish and enjoy the outdoors. He is preceded in death by both parents; infant child, Jimmy; granddaughter, Stephanie Lynn; brothers, Paul, Russell and Milford Smith and sister, Helen Cochenour. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Brenda (Shupe) Smith of New Stanton, PA; sons, Robert S. (Jeanne) Smith Jr. of Murrells Inlet, SC, Donald W. (Judi) Smith of West Newton, PA and Shawn L. (Joelle) Smith of New Stanton, PA; daughter, Lisa Ann (Brian) Karasack of Hutchinson, PA; nine grandchildren, Julia, Tyler, Drew, Ashley, Josh, Aaron, Leah, Matthew and Jonathan; nine great grandchildren, Briana, Quinton, Lincoln, Grayson, Charlotte, Maverick, Novalee, Heavynn and Renee and one on the way and sister, Eileen Steiner. Friends will be received on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 2 – 4 pm and 6 – 8 pm at the Beatty-Rich Funeral Home, Inc. Rt 136 Madison, PA – Ronald A. Rich Jr., Supervisor/FD. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the Hilltop United Methodist Church, 222 Church Lane, Madison, PA 15663 with Rev. Randy Sweet officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will follow at the Westmoreland Memorial Park Cemetery in Greensburg, PA. </p><p>&nbsp; </p><p>&nbsp; </p>
