Juan M. Amaya

1955 - 2023

Putnam – Juan M. Amaya, 68, of Ballou St., died Monday, May 29, 2023, at Hartford Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was the loving husband of Bertha (Munoz) Amaya. Born in Mexico, he was the son of the late Raul and Hortencia (Anchondo) Amaya.

Mr. Amaya established his life as a woodworker at a sawmill in New Mexico. During his last retirement years he enjoyed being a runner for Cargill Chevrolet. Aside from being an avid soccer player and enthusiast he enjoyed helping others in his apartment building.

Juan is survived by his loving wife, Bertha (Munoz) Amaya of Putnam; his daughters, Aracely Ontiveros of Vernon and Lory Day and her husband Michael of Woodstock; his four grandchildren, Victor, Andy, Danny, and A.J., and great grandchild Luca which were the light of his life. He has two surviving siblings, Raul and Julio Amaya. To which he was the eldest of 7.

The family would like to thank everyone that allowed him into their hearts and all that were incredibly kind to him.
