George A. Yeaman, 56, of Decatur, died on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at St. John’s Hospital.

He was born on February 2, 1967, in Springfield, IL, the son of Larry L. and Leta I. (Ham) Yeaman.

George earned an associate’s degree in Horticulture. He went on to work as a Horticulturalist with Rainey Nursery in Decatur, and also worked as a CNA and a roofer. George was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, and he adored spending time with his dog, Bella.

He was preceded in death by his father; son, George Yeaman, Jr.; sister-in-law, Dodie Steele; one niece; and three nephews.

George is survived by his mother, Irene (Jim Huff) Henson of Argenta, IL; daughter, Niki Kay Yeaman of Decatur; son, Phillip (Jenny) Lennon of Bridgeton, MO; two grandsons in Bridgeton, MO; siblings, Craig Steele of Onancock, VA, Steve Yeaman of Springfield, IL, Malissa (Rob) Myers of Vancouver, WA, Cindy (Kennon) Daugherty of Springfield, IL, Dona (Mike) Acres of Springfield, IL, Mary (Joel) McCutcheon of Springfield, MO, and Helena Stubbs of N. Ft. Myers, FL; lifelong family friend, Vickie (Mark) Kean of Springfield, IL; and last but not least, his beloved dog, Bella.

Cremation was provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.

Family will host a Celebration of Life on Friday, June 16, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Northender’s VFW, 2349 Stockyard Rd., Springfield, IL.
