James P. “Jim” Walker, 81, formerly of Apollo, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 in Indiana, PA, after spending the weekend surrounded by all of his loving family.

Born July 9, 1941 in Kiski Township, he was a son of the late Willis Walker & Thelma (Bowser) Walker.

Jim was a 1960 graduate of Apollo High School, and served our country with the United States Army.

He worked in the finishing department for US Steel- Vandergrift Works for 27 years, retiring in 1993.

Jim was a member of the Apollo Masonic Lodge and its Coudersport Consistory, and life member of the Spring Church Sportsmen’s Club.

He loved the outdoors, and in 2008, won the Strongland Tour De Trout award for the longest trout caught of the day. Jim also liked hunting. He was a skilled woodworker, and would create cabinets, crafts to sell, and others items for his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Virginia M. “Rene” (Andring) Walker, who passed away on September 1, 2021; brothers, Carl, Richard, Robert, Dale, William, Gary, & Daniel Walker; and his sisters, Betty Ross, Sarah “Sally” Kennedy, Mona Jean Williamson, Mary Smith, and Chrissy “Nellie” Porter.

Jim is survived by his daughters, Brenda (Mike) Zinobile of Huntington, PA, Laura (Mark Loudermilk) Louden of Indiana, PA; son, Kevin (Jill) Walker of Cranberry, PA; grandchildren, Abbie (Drew) Knowles, Quinn & Emma Zinobile, Jacob, Benjamin, & Joshua Louden; Noah, Colten & Mia Walker; John (Faith) Murphy, Nathan Loudermilk; great-grandchildren, Rhett & Wrenley Knowles; Kole & John Daniel Murphy; sisters, Judy Ferguson of Apollo, Sandra “Diane” Kestner of Apollo; and nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Curran-Shaffer Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. A Celebration Of Life Tribute Service will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Please join the family as they honor’s Jim’s life. Following the services, interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo, with military honors accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Honor Guard.
