<p>Hazel Royal Jenkins, age 88, of Hays, passed away, Monday, May 29, 2023 at Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist-Wilkes Medical Center. Mrs. Jenkins was born February 9, 1935 in Wilkes County to Charlie Glenn and Alice Ellis Royal. Hazel enjoyed cooking for her family, cleaning house and babysitting over the years. Her passion was loving her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Robert Royal.</p><p><br></p><p>Hazel is survived by her spouse, Luther Jenkins; sons, Danny Jenkins and spouse Angie of Hays, David Jenkins and spouse Amber of North Wilkesboro; grandchildren, Joshua Jenkins of Hays, Sara Jenkins and Katie Jenkins both of North Wilkesboro; sister, Ruby Haynes and spouse Glenn of North Wilkesboro; brother, Jerry Royal and spouse Martha of Hays; special friends, Dale and Teresa Waddell of Moravian Falls, Kim and Andrew Holland of North Wilkesboro, Stephanie and Brandon Nichols of Elkin; numerous nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Miller Funeral Chapel with Pastor Shane Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mountlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 1:00 until 2:00 on Thursday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105-9956.
